“Aria di Commedia – An Evening of Commedia dell’Arte and Italian Renaissance Music” is presented by the troupe “Pazzi Lazzi”. Actors will interpret characters like Arlecchino, Pantalone, Pulcinella, and Colombina with their troubles resulting from human weaknesses like envy, lust, and greed. Musical interludes will be performed by Renaissonics. Cosponsored by ICS, World Languages Center and the ISSI. Pazzi Lazzi wrote many of its own scenarios, inspired by real 1600s plots (called “canovacci”) and newspaper letters of the modern world. And since it is Commedia dell’Arte, “lazzi” (also known as jests or tricks) are written by the performers based on their work of improvisation.
